Zif Forte Capsule Dosage & Administration

Adult: One capsule daily before food or as directed by the physician.

Use in Children & Adolescents: Upon consultation with a doctor, recommended to use in children & adolescents.

Interaction

Tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics, levodopa, levothyroxine, methyldopa, and penicillamine are all inhibited by carbonyl iron. Because folic acid interacts with antiepileptic medications, plasma concentrations of phenobarbital, phenytoin, and primidone may be decreased.

Contraindications

It is not recommended for people who have a known hypersensitivity to any of the components. In the presence of hemolytic anemia, iron treatment is contraindicated.

Zif Forte Capsule Side Effects

Folic acid administration has been associated with allergic sensitivity. Constipation may result from taking an iron supplement orally, especially in elderly people.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Any medication should be avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy if at all feasible. Iron administration during the first trimester, therefore, necessitates definitive proof of Iron insufficiency. During the duration of the pregnancy, prophylaxis of iron deficiency is warranted if an insufficient diet necessitates supplemental Zinc and Folic acid.

Precautions & Warnings

Patients at risk of iron excess, such as those with hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia, or red cell aplasia, should be monitored closely. Iron chelates with doxycycline, perhaps impairing absorption.

Therapeutic Class

Iron, Vitamin, and Mineral Preparation

Storage Conditions

Store in a dry location at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep dampness at bay.
