Esomeprazole prevents the last step of gastric acid production by covalently binding
with the cysteine sulfhydryl group in ATPase H + / K + on the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, thus exerting its inhibitory effect on gastric acid. Regardless of the stimulus, this
effect will inhibit basic gastric acid secretion and stimulate gastric acid secretion. Since the combination of esomeprazole and the enzyme H + / K + ATPase is irreversible, it is necessary to express new enzymes to restore the acid secretion of,thus the antisecretory effect of esomeprazole lasts more than 24 hours.
